Jerusalem - New print release
08 Sep, 2015
I am proud to present a new limited edition print that is released today, available here now. It is my tribute to the English poet, artist and mystic William Blake, a seminal figure in British culture. I've enjoyed Blake's poetry since I was a student in London, the city in which he lived and worked for most of his life. I am not religious but I find the words captivating, it's ultimately a poem about hope and revolution. The poem is so intense and epic in nature, so evocative and rich, the challenge quickly established itself as trying to find a visual match for the energy and spirit of Blake's language. It's always hard to talk about ones own work, but I am very proud of this piece and really feel it is one of my strongest pieces of work to date.
'First Time Ever' Mural in London
01 Sep, 2015
Some guy called Seb Lester put up a mural in London (Salop Road, E17) over the weekend. Big calligraphy! Huge thanks to Lee at globalstreetart.com for making it happen, I couldn't have done it without him. Big thanks to Johann Chan for the short behind-the-scenes film on the homepage of this website. I enjoyed the process, I hope to do more murals in the future, if you have any suggestions drop me a line. I will be releasing a 'First Time Ever' limited edition print later this year.
Jerusalem by William Blake - A new limited edition print
19 Aug, 2015
I have a new limited edition print being released very soon. It is my tribute to the English poet, artist and mystic William Blake, a seminal figure in British culture. I've enjoyed Blake's poetry since I was a student in London, the city in which he lived and worked for most of his life. I have found comfort in his words during difficult times and I've wanted to try to interpret his poetry, specifically Jerusalem, ever since. It might sound odd but it is something I really had to do, I don't feel I had a choice in the matter. The poem is so intense and epic in nature, so evocative and rich, the challenge quickly established itself as trying to visually match the energy and spirit of his language. Whatever the reaction to this work I'm extremely proud of the results. To be one of the first to be notified when the print is available please sign up for my mailing list at the bottom of this page and look out for announcements on this website and social media in the coming days.
Speaking at OFFSET London Conference, November 2015
14 Aug, 2015
I’m speaking in London this coming November at OFFSET London. I feel honoured to be amongst such a great roster of speakers. I’ll be charting my life in letters from student days to working for some of the biggest companies in the world to current art and design projects. The talk will include a section on designing a logo for a NASA space mission. I’ll also be describing how I ended up with over a million followers on social media, something I am still trying to get used to. Events like this educate, illuminate and inspire. If you make it to OFFSET London do come and say hello. More details on the OFFSET website.
'First Time Ever' - New limited edition print release
13 Jul, 2015
I have a new print on the way. You can see a work-in-progress shot on the front page of this website. I'm really pleased with how it is taking shape. I always try to find powerful and evocative words to work with, words that move me. This print will be based on the beautiful lyrics to 'First Time Ever' by Ewan Maccoll. I think this song, made famous by Roberta Flack, is one of the most perfectly formed love songs ever written. To be one of the first to be notified when the print is available please consider signing up to my very occasional mailing list. Full details to follow here and on my social media in due course.

I was one of three calligraphers interviewed by the BBC about calligraphy on Instagram. It doesn't get much more mainstream than the front page of the BBC website. It's a positive piece and I hope it encourages people to try calligraphy for themselves or simply to enjoy watching it online.
Interviewed by The New Yorker
09 Jun, 2015
I was recently interview by The New Yorker about calligraphy videos on Instagram. It is a very positive article and I am really pleased. It is great promotion not just for myself but for calligraphy as a whole. You can read the article here. The interviewer asked me if we are experiencing a calligraphy revival. I said that I thought the question pointed to the answer as I strongly doubted the question would have been asked five years ago by anyone, let alone by a journalist from The New Yorker. I do believe we are experiencing a significant surge of interest in calligraphy and a greater uptake of people practicing calligraphy. I think it's a really healthy development for letterform related disciplines as a whole. I also believe it's making the world a slightly more beautiful place.
Approaching one million accounts on social media
09 May, 2015
Hello all. I just want to say quickly that it has been a pretty surreal few weeks. I now have approaching one million accounts following me on social media. That's hard for me to understand. It's respectable for a pop star, let alone someone like myself. I'm featured on The Mirror and The Daily Express websites today.
Anyone who knows me will tell you I really have worked incredibly hard for a long time to get to this point. I have a strong emotional connection to letterforms and, in the last four years, to calligraphy especially. That is often the key to success. Finding your passion, something you connect with profoundly, and then pursuing it with all of your heart. The success I am enjoying at the moment is testament to that.
I am really excited about the projects I'm working on and the huge plans I have for this year and beyond. I have so much to learn and so much I want to try to achieve. I'm focusing more on art this year and some great things are going on behind the scenes. I hope to tell you more about that in due course. Thank you sincerely for taking an interest in what I do.
